Houthis Shake Israel: Missiles and Drones Hit Military Bases & Airports

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated once again. Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for a massive wave of strikes targeting military installations and airports inside Israel. The attacks were described as retaliation for Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.

Wave of Strikes

Regional media reported that dozens of ballistic missiles and combat drones were launched from Yemen toward key Israeli targets. Air raid sirens echoed across multiple cities, while amateur footage captured explosions near an airbase and civilian airports.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed a cross-border strike attempt, claiming that most of the missiles were intercepted by the Iron Dome system. However, several infrastructures sustained damage, including flight operations that were temporarily paralyzed.

Yemen’s Justification

The Houthis declared that the attacks were a direct response to the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. “As long as Israeli aggression continues, our hands will not remain idle,” said a Houthi spokesperson.

International Reaction

The strikes quickly drew international attention. The United States and its allies strongly condemned the attacks, while some Arab nations framed them as an act of solidarity with Palestine. The United Nations urged de-escalation, warning that such cross-border confrontations risk expanding the war further across the Middle East.

Analysis

Analysts argue that Houthi involvement signals a new chapter in the Israel-Palestine conflict. While Yemen had previously played a role mostly through rhetoric, the direct use of missiles and drones now raises the risk of a broader regional war.

With Iran backing the Houthis and the U.S. standing firmly by Israel, the world is left to wonder: is this a symbolic strike—or the beginning of a far larger confrontation in the Middle East?
